The week of 2 – 6 December is all about celebrating T Levels!
T Levels (The T stands for ‘Technical’) are a great new qualification for 16-18s. They combine advanced-level learning with practical skills and a substantial industry placement. Here at SBU Sixth, we offer T Levels in Health, Engineering and Finance.
T Levels Case Study: Haider Ali Hussain, T-Level Finance
Haider had spent a year doing A Levels before moving onto the T Level course. He is soon going to be starting a 45-day placement with a pensions and investment company working with the NHS. “I started doing A Levels, but taking another look at my ambitions, I realised I wanted a more career-focused course, where I could concentrate on finance, asset management and investment. The T Level ticks those boxes, and SBU Sixth was the best place to study. Our teachers are very supportive and the classes are second to none. Learning about the finance sector has firmed up my plans, and I can’t wait to get started with the work placement. It’s really exciting and we’ve prepared for it well.”
T Level Week at SBU: Visit to leading city investment company
Business & Finance students at SBU Sixth visited global investment company Ninety One in the City of London today (6 Dec 2024) to get first-hand insights into the sector. Our T level students got to meet and speak to industry experts on various topics concerning finance and investment. The group, which also included students on our Level 3 BTEC programme, then had the chance to explore a range of routes into financial sector career pathways.
The visit was arranged by Clarice Mofor, Lead tutor for Business at SBU Sixth. She said, “Throughout our courses we highlight the importance of industry exposure, creating opportunities for students to see the business world, develop their ambitions and plan their route to future success. Our students thrive thanks to partnerships and workplace visits like this and we are grateful to Ninety One for welcoming us.”
