SBUSixth students, parents and staff gathered at London South Bank University last week for our Student of the Year awards ceremony. The evening was hosted by our Chair of Governors, Ruth Spellman OBE, and we were delighted to be joined by students from South Bank University Academy, who are also part of the SBA Trust.
Subject awards were presented to 30 students from across the two schools, a recognition for the outstanding student in each class. Employer representatives Zac Yiallouros of the Bank of England and Jo Young of Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust then presented ‘Skills Awards’ to students who have shown excellence in Communication, Teamwork, Problem Solving and other key transferable skills – a valuable part of our curriculum across all subjects.
Ruth Spellman then presented the award and prize for “Chair’s Student of the Year”. This was awarded to Health and Social Care student Eve Akeredolu. Eve’s nomination, written by her tutors, said: “She is known for her reliability, honesty, and strong sense of responsibility. These qualities have earned the admiration of her classmates and made her a role model within the sixth form community… Her leadership potential is immense, and she will go on to make a meaningful contribution to whatever path she chooses. It is a genuine honour to have taught such a remarkable student.”
Congratulations to Eve and all the winners from SBU Sixth and Academy! A full list of the winners from SBU Sixth is below:
