Technical Education: The Path to a Fulfilling Career

Technical education is increasingly being recognised as a valuable and viable option for young people looking to enter the workforce. This is reflected in the UK government’s recent announcement of a new initiative to support young people in choosing their future careers. Starting in primary school, this programme aims to challenge stereotypes and open up a world of possibilities to pupils by linking lessons to different careers, training, and skills. This will give children the chance to meet employers and role models from a range of industries and raise their aspirations for the future.

In addition to this, a change in the law will ensure that all year 8-13 pupils have at least six opportunities to meet with providers of technical education. This is an important step in helping young people understand the full range of options available to them, including apprenticeships, T-Levels, and Higher Technical Qualifications, rather than just the traditional academic route.

At South Bank University Sixth Form, we offer a range of technical courses in engineering, health, and business & finance. These courses are designed with input from industry experts and employers, and are taught in state-of-the-art facilities. We also have partnerships with leading companies, which give our students the opportunity to gain practical experience and develop the skills they need to succeed in their chosen careers.

The UK government’s commitment to improving careers advice and increasing access to technical education is a positive step towards ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to pursue the career path that is right for them.
