SBUSixth Joint Commitments

Discover the commitments we make to you as a student at SBUSixth.

School commitments

To ensure students do not fall behind too much, you should expect your school to provide challenges and support your child. Below is a brief list of School Commitments we expect all our staff to adhere to: 

  • To ensure all relevant online resources are available to all students working remote       
  • To ensure all teachers are providing appropriate level of learning for each lesson every week       
  • Teachers interact their students via the Teams chat function only during remote learning times (week days: 8.50am – 3.00pm)          
  • Teachers regularly respond to students’ messages sent to them during the remote school day      
  • Teachers mark all relevant work on time for every week via the Teams platform             
  • The school quickly attempts to resolve any issues, worries, concerns or anxiety reported by students and families 
  • To ensure that vulnerable students and children of critical workers have access to supervision on site

Student commitments 

To ensure students do not fall behind too much, we expect all students to engage and commit to the remote learning provided by the school. Below is a brief list of Student Commitments we expect the students to adhere to:  

  • To log in to Teams daily during the given remote learning school times (8.50am – 3.00pm) 
  • To access the relevant lessons at the timetabled times outlined in the remote learning time table (e.g., Year 10s complete English work from 8.50am – 9.40am every morning)  
  • Students interact appropriately with their teachers via the Teams chat function only during remote learning times (week days: 8.50am – 3.00pm)  
  • Students regularly respond to teachers’ messages sent to them during the remote school day      
  • If students are on a Teams video call / live lesson make sure they are in a suitable, professional, and safe location
  • Students send completed work on time for every lesson every week via the Teams platform         
  • Students inform a member of staff if they have any issues, worries, concerns or anxiety about working from home  
  • Students are still kind, supportive and helpful to fellow students while online 
  • Students do not take part in risky online behaviour while at home and report any safeguarding or welfare concerns to any member of staff via Teams Chat 

Parent commitments

To ensure we work together in partnership with parents for our children we need everyone to be committed to our remote learning expectations. Below is a brief list of Parent Commitments we them to follow: 

  • Parents will only contact the school during normal working hours (8:50am – 3.00pm) for any of the following reasons. Relevant staff contact details can be found on the website
  • Communicate the Student commitment with their children to ensure we all work together to maximize student progress and learning
  • To access the free school meals (FSM) voucher scheme (details on the website)
  • To report issues in accessing learning or other computer related issues (details on the website)
  • To report a child’s positive test result or to inform the school of COVID symptoms (only if they are accessing the key worker provision on site) 
  • Raise any welfare or safeguarding concerns with Mr Harding or Ms Russell via email or Teams
