Grand opening of South Bank University Sixth Form 

London’s newest sixth form college, South Bank University Sixth Form (SBUSixth), celebrated its official grand opening on January 31st 2024. This is the country’s first technical sixth form offering over high-quality technical education. The state-of-the-art SBUSixth campus in Brixton Hill, prepares its pupils to build successful careers in Science, Engineering, Health, Business and Finance with high -tech facilities from computer aided design suites to advanced medical equipment.

SBUSixth has partnerships with key industry sponsors including Skanska, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, which gives students valuable insights into what is needed to work at a leading global employer, experience of live briefs and casework experience to support progress to apprenticeships, work or further study.

The official opening event of SBUSixth took place during the 5th anniversary of LSBU Group a unique and growing partnership of a secondary school, three colleges and a university in south London. LSBU Group was created in 2019 after London South Bank University oversaw the first merger of its kind between a university and college.

Professor Dave Phoenix, Vice Chancellor of London South Bank University and CEO of LSBU Group, said, “The new concept for a technical sixth form college in Brixton Hill was given ministerial approval last year. SBUSixth staff and the wider LSBU Group have worked hard to ensure the college can give hundreds of young people in Lambeth the chance to build successful careers in Science, Engineering, Health, Business and Finance.
