Year 10/11 Taster Days
These events offer Year 10 or 11 students the chance to sample practical learning at SBU Sixth form, helping to inform progression choices. Bookings are invited for groups of up to 30 students from any one school. Your timetable will be created in discussion with you to meet your students’ needs but could include for example:
Engineering: Tinkering Electronics; Green Hydrogen Power; Computer Aided Design; Design for Manufacture
Health: Respond to a medical emergency in our Health Simulation Suite
Business: Entrepreneurship & Marketing
Science: A-Level taster
Sessions will be suitable for students with the potential to progress to Level 3 in Year 12 (either directly or following a one-year Foundation Level 2 course, including the opportunity to retake English and/or Maths.)
We can arrange taster sessions for Year 10 at any point in the year. Year 11 are also welcome at any point before they go on exam leave.
All bookings will be made in consultation with school staff, creating a timetable to fit your needs. Visits typically last from 1 to 3 hours. Please contact marketing@sbusixth.ac.uk for an initial discussion. We can usually arrange these visits with a notice period of around 4 weeks (to ensure suitable space, teachers and resources are available).
