Over 300 Year 12 and 13 students packed into assembly this week to listen to lawyer, industry leader and EDI trailblazer Dr Sandie Okoro deliver a talk entitled 'Setting up for Success'. Through recounting some of her career experiences and answering a range of questions, Dr Sandie provided inspiration for sixth formers studying engineering, business, health and science courses.
Her memorable and captivating talk included her valuable advice for young people, such as "Don't rule yourself out before the world has had the chance to rule you in." A huge round of applause from the audience, who had listened intently throughout the hour-long session, showed how much students and staff had appreciated and benefited from the visit.
After chatting to some of the students who stayed behind after the session finished, Dr Okoro said, "A huge thank you to all the students for reminding me how much I enjoy spending time with young people who are curious, ambitious and prepared to ask the difficult questions."
