 The T Level in Engineering is exciting, career-focused qualifications designed for students who want to combine classroom learning with practical experience. Equivalent to three A Levels, this two-year course gives students the chance to explore how engineering shapes the world around us—whether that’s designing sustainable energy systems, developing new technologies, or building the infrastructure of the future. With a strong emphasis on practical skills, problem-solving, and industry knowledge, students learn through a mix of classroom study, workshops, and using industry-standard equipment, helping them build confidence and stand out from the crowd.

A key feature of the T Level is the substantial industry placement, where students spend time working with real employers, gaining experience and insight into the engineering sector. 

Students develop both academic understanding and hands-on experience valued by employers, while for students, it’s a clear and exciting route into a fast-moving, high-demand industry.

  • Course details

    In the first year, students study a core curriculum that covers key principles such as engineering mathematics, science, and design, alongside topics like materials, manufacturing processes, and the use of modern technologies. They also develop essential transferable skills, including problem-solving, project planning, communication, and the ability to work accurately and safely within engineering environments.
    In the second year, students specialise in a specific pathway—such as design and development, manufacturing, or maintenance, installation and repair—allowing them to focus on an area that matches their interests and career goals. Alongside this, the course includes a substantial industry placement, where students apply their knowledge in a real workplace and gain hands-on experience.

    Assessment is a mix of exams, practical projects, and employer-set tasks, ensuring students not only understand the theory but can also apply their skills effectively, preparing them for progression into employment, apprenticeships, or higher-level study.
