- Course details Over 2 years of study, the qualification covers core areas such as engineering principles, including maths and science applied to real situations, as well as design and manufacturing processes, where you learn how products are created from concept to completion. The course also explores mechanical and electrical systems, materials and their properties, and the use of modern technologies like CAD (Computer-Aided Design).Alongside technical knowledge, you’ll develop important workplace skills such as problem-solving, teamwork and project management through hands-on assignments and projects that reflect real engineering challenges.

A BTEC Engineering qualification can open the door to a huge range of career paths. You could go on to become a mechanical engineer, designing and building machines, vehicles, or manufacturing systems, or an electrical/electronic engineer working on circuits, robotics, or renewable energy technologies. Other options include civil engineering (helping design buildings, roads and infrastructure), aerospace engineering (working on aircraft and space technology), or transport engineering.
