T-Level in Finance is a career-focused qualification designed for students who want to build a strong foundation in financial services, banking, investment, and related business operations. Equivalent to three A Levels, this industry-aligned course combines in-depth classroom learning with a substantial work placement, giving you real-world experience alongside technical knowledge in areas such as data analysis, risk management and compliance.

- Course details
The course will introduce you to the sector, starting with the core knowledge that underpins the financial world. This includes understanding how businesses manage money, how financial systems work, and the basics of accounting, such as budgets, profit and loss and financial planning. You’ll also explore topics like data handling, digital tools used in finance, and the rules and regulations that keep financial organisations running fairly and safely.
As you progress, you’ll dive deeper into real-life finance scenarios, such as working with financial data, analysing risks, and understanding customer needs in areas like banking, pensions or insurance. A key part of the course is your industry placement, where you spend time with an employer and see how finance works in the real world. The placement opportunities give you hands-on experience and helps you apply what you’ve learned in class, as well as excellent experience for your CV.At the end of Year One you will complete externally marked exams and an Employer Set Project.
In Year Two you will complete an externally marked project based on your occupational specialism.
Across the two years you will spend around nine weeks on placement in a role related to your occupational specialism. In 2026, T-Level Finance students at SBUSixth spent 3 weeks of their placement in Crete, working with a major European bank and learning from a range of finance professionals.

- What this course can lead to
The qualification carries UCAS points (dependent on your final grade), so students can progress to university to study a range of accounting and finance-related degree courses. Successful students are also well set to apply for higher apprenitceship positions and junior employment in the finance sector, in roles such as in banking, insurance, investments, trading or finance offices. Students can also seek to progress to higher-level apprenticeships or higher education in finance or business-related degree courses.
- Entry qualifications
