The Medical Science AAQ is an engaging and career-focused qualification for students interested in healthcare, medicine and applied science. The course combines scientific theory with practical laboratory and research skills, helping students develop a strong understanding of human health, disease, medical technologies and the healthcare sector.
Students will build analytical, communication and problem-solving skills while exploring real-world health science challenges such as viruses and immunology. The qualification provides excellent preparation for progression to university, higher-level apprenticeships or careers in areas such as healthcare, biomedical science, nursing, allied health professions and medical research.
Students at SBUSixth will combine AAQ Medical Science with A-Level Maths and one other science subject at A-Level.
The AAQ Medical Science can also be studied alongside BTEC Level 3 in Science or Health.

To combine this course with two A Levels you will need 5 GCSEs at Grade 6 or above, including maths, English and two sciences or double science. To combine this course with BTEC courses you will need 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including maths, English and two sciences or double science.
