The T Level in Health is a two-year course which combines learning in classrooms and labs with practical experience in the workplace. It covers a wide range of topics to give students a strong foundation in how health and care services work, including communication skills, safeguarding, mental health and understanding different roles within the NHS, private providers and care settings. Students also choose a specialism—such as Adult Nursing, Midwifery, Social Care or Mental Health so they can begin to focus on the area they’re most interested in.
A key part of the course is a substantial industry placement (around 45 days), where students gain hands-on experience in real healthcare environments like hospitals, health practices or care homes. This helps build confidence, develop practical skills and understand what a job in the health sector is really like. - Course details Students on the T Level in Health study a mix of classroom-based theory and practical skills designed to prepare them for real careers in healthcare. In the first year, the course covers core topics that apply to all health roles, such as how the human body works, supporting people with different needs and how to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues. Students also cover important areas like safeguarding, infection control, equality and diversity and how the health and social care system (including the NHS and private providers) operate. This helps students understand both the science behind healthcare and the responsibilities of working with vulnerable people.
In the second year, students focus more on their chosen specialism and develop job-specific skills. For example, they might learn how to take basic clinical observations (like pulse and temperature), support patient care, or work as part of a healthcare team. They also build key employability skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and professional behaviour.
During the course students spend 45 days on work placement, getting practical skills and experience in professional settings.

After completing the T Level, students can seek to move on to university, an apprenticeship, or junior employment in the health and care sector.
- Entry qualifications
The entry grades for T Level courses are 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, including maths and English. For full entry criteria for all courses please check current information here

All students who have an offer of a place will be given an enrolment appointment in late August. Enrolment is when your place is confimed.
